Diamonds in Tirumala hundi

TIRUMALA: Over hundred diamonds were found in the Srivari hundi, when the temple parakamani staff took out the offerings from the hundi for counting on Wednesday evening.

The temple authorities said that an unknown devotee has offered the diamonds whose value can be known only after examination by experts.Confirming the offering of diamonds by an unknown devotee, Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju said that the diamonds have been sent to the jewellery section of the TTD in Tirupati for estimating their value, as no such facility is available in the temple. According to temple sources, they have not witnessed precious diamonds being offered to Lord Venkateswara since 2000 when a devotee from Sri Lanka had donated a precious emerald. However, the last time diamonds were offered in such large quantity was in 1995.
